Director of Compliance Assurance Industry: Insurance Remit: Asia Pacific Location: Singapore
Role Overview: The Director of Compliance Assurance will lead the compliance oversight function for the Asia Pacific region. This role focuses on ensuring that the companyโs policies, procedures, and controls are in alignment with local regulatory requirements and internal standards. The Director will conduct reviews of key compliance controls, identify gaps, and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective measures.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Monitoring: Oversee the review and testing of key controls to ensure compliance with both local regulations and internal policies.
Regulatory Alignment: Ensure that company policies and procedures meet the requirements of relevant regulatory bodies across the Asia Pacific region.
Gap Analysis: Identify gaps in existing compliance frameworks and work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement action plans to address these gaps.
Risk Assessment: Lead periodic risk assessments and maintain an ongoing monitoring framework for regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with business units, legal, risk management, and internal audit teams to ensure a collaborative approach to compliance assurance.
Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and processes are audit-ready.
Regulatory Updates: Monitor and analyse changes in the regulatory environment, advising senior management on potential impacts and required changes to company procedures.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, summarizing compliance status, key risks, and remedial actions.
Training & Development: Promote compliance culture through training and awareness programs across the region.
Key Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management from banking or financial services (prior insurance experience not a pre-requisite)
Leading compliance assurance or compliance audit reviews, preferably with a regional remit.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region.
Ability to assess complex regulations, policies, and controls, and make actionable recommendations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and regulators.
Bachelorโs degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CAMS, CISA, etc) are a plus.
