Overall Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible and accountable for the successful implementation of software application projects within strict deadlines and budget constraints. This challenging role requires the candidate to independently initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to navigate internal and client-side organizational landscapes and conduct typical project management activities, including resource acquisition, scope definition, effort estimation, budget approval, and coordination of team members and third-party contractors to deliver projects according to plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams (development, testing, product, solution architecture, external experts) to successfully deliver projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on all project-related matters.
- Manage project scope, quality, schedule, effort, and cost constraints.
- Oversee both internal and external stakeholders, including banks and regulators.
- Plan and procure project requirements such as manpower, information, agreements, materials, and technology, and execute to achieve project objectives.
- Handle all aspects of the project, including team interactions and stakeholder communications, to minimize risks, maximize benefits, and reduce costs.
- Drive, influence, and facilitate customer decisions and acceptance of project parameters, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with teams to recommend and provide solutions to stakeholders.
- Perform impact analysis for new and existing requirement changes.
- Ensure efficient management and execution of all assignments and engagements under functional and technical tracks.
- Support and participate in functional discussions, walkthroughs, and presentations with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes.
- Manage and support internal and external acceptance testing, industry testing, and "live" cutover.
- Monitor and manage project risks, issues, and progress to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with defined project processes, standards, and methodologies.
- Prepare and review project status reports, meeting minutes, risk reports, and other documentation.
- Ensure thorough review of technical, operational documentation, and training materials.
- Define and communicate clear, useful, and attainable project objectives to both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in IT projects, with at least 5 years of direct and independent project management for contracts exceeding USD $1M.
- Experience managing projects with a total contract value exceeding USD $3M is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding and practical experience in IT project management and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proficient in AGILE principles, processes, and tools.
- Working knowledge of implementing management and control mechanisms to efficiently track issues, risks, timesheets, finances, and invoices, with the ability to automate these processes where tools are available.
- Proficient in using project management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and pitch to stakeholders effectively.
- Strong leadership qualities and people management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in the financial industry or payment systems is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in JEE, RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MySQL), and Application Servers (e.g., WAS, WLS, JBoss) are advantageous.
- PMP Certification is preferred.
