Role: Assistant Underwriter - Reinsurance

Our Assistant Underwriters are at the heart of everything we do, without them our business wouldn’t function.
The Assistant Underwriter is a key member of the underwriting team and will assist to deliver on the regional vision and strategy, in line with the MS Amlin Asia Pacific (MS AAP) strategy and business plan.
The Assistant Underwriter will have a level of authority in collaboration with the underwriters to help make sound underwriting decisions and contribute thinking and output to operational delivery of the strategy.
About The Job
What you’ll spend your time doing:
Manage all submissions received from stakeholders, by means of purpose-built tools and business applications so that workload can be appropriately managed across the team, and so that key steps in the transactional lifecycle are met on time.
Support quotes, and underwriting and service of allocated accounts and operate within agreed authority parameters.
Work closely with Claims in reviewing and recommend action on contentious claims and to monitor claims movements on accounts.
Ensure that all underwriting documentation is attached to the underwriting workflow system and indexed accurately, in a timely manner, at the point of policy inception and during the life of the policy as updates are received.
Enter all risk details on to the underwriting system, ensuring high levels of accuracy – preparing base rating files for underwriters for review and discussion
Conduct accuracy checks on the work of the other underwriting assistants
Ensure the effective development of client / broker relationships – beginning to demonstrate a good understanding of the clients and the market in which they operate and how we can drive their risk needs.
Represent MS Amlin at corporate / networking events, ensuring that the MS Amlin values and behaviours are upheld at all times
Track and report developments affecting the business of the class and raise as appropriate, to the Senior Underwriters or Underwriting Management
Participate in the monitoring of premium payments and liaise with Brokers and CRT where necessary
Support Finance and Credit Control in the management of outstanding premiums and general premium payment queries.
Participate in the monitoring of underwriting against the Business Plan drawing attention to exceptions where identified.
Assistance with exposure management and aggregate capture work as well as RDS tracking
Liaison with other areas of the business such as risk analytics for RMS, AIR and the Actuarial function
Assistance with resolving standard risk review queries
Conduct role in accordance with the Company’s Business Ethics policy and all regulated entities as appropriate
Manage all queries in a professional and efficient manner
Assist Underwriters in generating and analysing reports relating to income, business volumes, renewals, performance and overall portfolio management.
Build and produce required reports (from business applications and Excel) in line with metrics provided by the Underwriters.
Maintain and continuously seek to enhance existing tools and reporting frameworks used by the Underwriters and Underwriting Management.
Management Information
Support Underwriting Management in the administration of all data adequacy reporting and respond to Underwriting Management queries when raised, in consultation with Underwriters.
Ensure data in our underwriting system is accurate and updated as required and validated at designated times in the calendar year.
Ensure rating templates are complete and maintained – saved to the required location and their contents align to other key underwriting applications and tools.
Support with quarterly reserving exercises lead by Finance function.
Annually review and update all policy and procedure documentation of the Administrative function of Crisis Management Underwriting, including User Guide(s) and other relevant materials, in consultation with Operations Function.
Keep abreast of changes in process or procedure cascaded from Underwriting Management – support Operations in the effective implementation of those procedures locally.
