DescriptionThe Head of Tax reports up to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the design, build and managing of corporate tax and GST affairs (including compliance & reporting) of Income’s business interests including any regionalisation (or other) projects. This will be an opportunity for an individual to help continue to build out a strong tax governance framework and support on the implementation of a variety of projects from a tax perspective, including but not limited to corporate tax, GST, stamp duty, property tax, etc; providing support in tax technical support, advisory & support to business units in Income as well as front tax audits & questions from Tax authorities.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective systems and controls that meet Financial & Tax reporting compliance requirements for the company and its subsidiaries
- Support and participate in the implementation of functional and operational projects/ assignments, business integration
- Support filing and settlement of SG withholding tax with relevant tax authorities via advising on queries from business units
- Facilitate filing and settlement of foreign withholding taxes with relevant tax authorities through working with internal stakeholders and custodian bank(s)/other service provider(s) to maximise tax relief claims or tax reclaims
- Ensure transactions are booked under the correct tax categories and tax tables are updated in the system via reviewing of tax provision computations prepared by the Regulatory Reporting team
- Pro-actively engage stakeholders and provide insight on financial-related topics including advice on local tax regulations & incentives that may impact the companies' operations and profitability
- Proactively make suggestions to improve process efficiency for tax compliance and risk management-related processes
- Provide & lead on tax advisory around various projects that may include acquisitions, restructuring, and refinancing while balancing commercial views with Tax & Legal considerations.
- Oversees corporate tax compliance for the group and subsidiaries, as well as ensuring that transfer pricing requirements are met.
- Support GST compliance and quarterly reporting as a reviewer
- Handle and support GST enquiries from business units including any ad-hoc tax and related enquiries from business units, including enquiries from customers and any other stakeholders
- Manage a team of tax specialists
- Support of any non-tax related work for the Finance division as may be required from time to time
- Active participation at Industry level platform(s) to manage and influence taxation of insurance companies to the best interest of the company and its subsidiaries
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance or Accounting with professional accounting or tax qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA, SCTP or relevant equivalent
- 7 or more years of progressive tax experience in a CPA firm, a professional services firm, a tax consulting practice or a large insurance tax department
- Working knowledge of Southeast Asia tax jurisdictions and setups.
- Ability to critically analyse complex cross-border transactions from a tax perspective with an appreciation of the wider business perspectives (e.g. operational, legal, accounting, practical)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
