Senior Finance Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager (“Steward of Coins”) to join our rapidly growing startup. This individual will play a critical role in building and scaling our financial operations, working closely with the Head of Operations, Chip Wilcox (https://www.linkedin.com/in/chipwilcox/), and our Founders, Rohit Jha (https://www.linkedin.com/in/rohitrj/) and Dr. Mohammad Danesh (https://www.linkedin.com/in/modanesh/). The ideal candidate possesses a strong accounting background, preferably with experience in a fast growing startup firm, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A commitment to operational excellence and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Accounting & Finance
- Manage day-to-day accounting and finance functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and reporting progress, issues, and solutions to the Head of Operations and Founders.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording, reconciliation, and filing of local GST transactions with IRAS.
- Manage banking relationships and transactions with HSBC, UOB, Amex and other service providers.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Conduct financial statement analysis and contribute to the preparation of quarterly board of directors and investor reports.
- Develop and implement robust financial models for inventory management, cost accounting, and production planning to optimize manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with team leads, the Head of Operations, and Founders on budget planning, analysis, and reporting, comparing planned vs. actual performance.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, financial statement preparation, equity valuation modeling, and reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of new processes and systems, including MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) and accounting system integration, and automation using third-party services (e.g., Travel & Expense Management tools). We use - Xero, WegoPro, MRPEasy.
- Continuously improve and streamline reporting, accounting, and cash management processes related to manufacturing, quality management, and supply chain (discipline the buyer!).
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Liaise with external auditors during year-end audits.
- Support investor relations activities, providing accurate and timely information and analysis to existing and prospective investors.
- Process, analyze, and interpret large financial datasets to support investor communication and engagement materials, presenting complex information clearly and concisely.
Other Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions, including payroll, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements, obtaining necessary founder approvals.
- Identify and pursue relevant business grants, coordinating application submissions in Singapore and internationally.
- Work with in-house Buyer & Manufacturing Team to structure favourable payment terms with suppliers/vendors for effective stock and inventory management.
QUALIFICATIONS
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Corporate Finance or equivalent, with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and GAAP, and consolidations (we are working extensively with the US market and will have an office there soon, with its own P&L).
- Working knowledge of Singapore accounting standards, compliance, and tax regulations.
- Proven experience in managing financial operations for a manufacturing company, with a strong understanding of inventory finance and manufacturing cost accounting.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative team player. Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
It is a bonus if you:
- CFA (any level) or MBA Finance is preferred but not necessary.
- Experience working with Auditors
- Experience with cloud accounting systems (e.g., Xero) and MRP systems (e.g., MRPEasy).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, preferably in deep tech hardware.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-accounting professionals.
- Working knowledge of US/Australia accounting standards, compliance, and tax regulations.
