We are seeking a Head of Terminal Procurement to join our Ocean Procurement team, based in Singapore. This role will oversee operations across more than 10 countries in Southeast Asia, Oceania, and the Mekong region. You will lead a diverse team of professionals within the Asia Pacific Region and collaborate closely with teams at our headquarters.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing an annual spend budget through a comprehensive sourcing strategy, executing negotiations across the scope of operations. As the leader of a team of Procurement and Sourcing professionals based in Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand, you will engage with various leaders and internal stakeholders to effectively manage the portfolio and realize our Terminal Strategy vision.
Additionally, you will serve as Maersk’s ambassador to our network of suppliers, including ports, terminal operators, marine services providers, and stevedores, fostering collaboration and partnership.
You will navigate a diverse landscape of suppliers and stakeholders, including best-in-class global organizations, and become an integral part of Maersk’s global Terminals Procurement Community, where the exchange of ideas, coordination, and sharing of best practices occurs daily.

Key responsibilities

Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops the Terminal Procurement function
Ensures execution of the Project pipelines to reach annualized business goals.
Develop, enhance and execute negotiation strategies towards our suppliers. Develop own and team capabilities to drive complex negotiations across supplier groups
Secure competitive advantage for Maersk’s customers, through long term decision making on Vendor selection, Global relationships, working with network teams and working closely with the Commercial organization
Support global strategic initiatives E.g. Source to Pay, ESG drives, Digitization and Customer Focus, all of which directly support company’s strategic direction
Has responsibility for training and growing employees within the Terminal Procurement function to build organizational capability, talent, improves the way the team works.
Close interaction with Contract Management through self and team, to ensure all agreements are realizing contractual values
Create, evolve and enhance stakeholder map – we work in a complex universe with internal plus external stakeholders, this role will be responsible to own that map for the Terminals landscape
Driving professionalization of the Terminal Procurement function, including Terminal playbooks, Supplier Relationship Program, Supplier Performance & scorecards
Participate and Provides input to the network design based on market knowledge ensuring a cost-optimal deployment of assets; in line with contractual
Participate and Provides input to heads of logistics and services, Terminal and landside strategy
Support and Provides input to the Management team, execution teams, HQ central teams to drive a red thread through local and global initiatives, and improve synergies and implement global standards within contracts
We’re looking for
8-10 years of experience, displaying strong negotiations /procurement skills, preferably within the ocean domain. It is essential to have experience handling large value and long-term contract
Possess good business acumen, has a commercial and strategic mind
Strong internal network with the relevant stakeholders / management team, proven excellent stakeholder management skills
Experience within Supplier Relationship Management & Contract Management
Experience with digital procurement tools is preferred
