Description

We are looking for a Junior Nat Cat Pricer who is a team player, technically sound, passionately curious, and who ambitiously wants to make business impact. 

The Junior Nat Cat Pricer analyses and prices P&C reinsurance treaty business for assigned markets and lines of business. The role also participates in developing, cultivating and maintaining the Pricing & Modelling community, driving innovation and fostering a culture of service through various projects.

This role supports the Cat Manager with ensuring smooth operations, by ensure pricing and accumulation are timely, accurate and compliant with guidelines and with the catastrophe risk management of SCOR’s portfolio.

 



Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

Support

  • Support treaty reinsurance catastrophe modelling support to underwriters. Analyse cedant exposure/modelled results received from clients/brokers and import into vendor risk modelling environment for in-house modelling
  • Support the delivery of catastrophe risk pricing of treaty reinsurance using those vendor models, experience and/or internally developed tools as per SCOR process and guidelines
  • Be a point of contact for one or more markets

Analytics:

  • Support projects and follow-up questions / modelling assumptions brought up by underwriters and/or analysts
  • Collaborate in transverse initiatives (Cat Systems, Analytics and Governance, wider Reinsurance or Specialty Insurance units)
  • Support to the AvE Analysis

Project / Research:

  • Collaborate in projects on Nat Cat topics to support the Nat Cat team and the business
  • Collaborate in projects to answer underwriter-specific queries on hazard, vulnerability and model behaviour
  • Learn to understand and interrogate vendor models to develop appropriate risk-views for pricing and accumulation
  • Collaborate in research related to better understanding of natural perils

Qualifications

Experience

  • Excellent academic qualifications including a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, other scientific discipline (statistics, physics, natural science), economics or finance
  • An advanced degree (master’s or PhD) would be a plus
  • Insurance qualification or actuarial credentials are strongly preferred
  • No prior work experience is required
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Proficiency in Excel). SQL, GIS. Programming skills ideally in R or Python
  • Clear communicator, able to structure an argument and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way. Team player, interested in sharing knowledge and helping to develop the team.
