Join Our Team at Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies, School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

A Research Fellow position is currently available at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT), School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

The Research Fellow (Project Leader) will be required to substantially advance a research programme aiming at developing advanced super-resolution optical imaging techniques with molecular level resolution and understanding the nanoscale interaction of highly structured topological light with nanoscale matter.

CDPT is looking for a highly motivated candidate with keen interest in optics, imaging and nanophotonics spectroscopy, and the optimization and fabrication of nanostructured materials.

Key Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the project, the Research Fellow is expected to conduct research in nanoscale optical imaging and spectroscopy, as well as developing and optimizing nanostructured sample preparation techniques. The role requires the operation and maintenance of laboratories and advanced characterization tools, collaboration with research teams, and contribution to scientific publications.

The Research Fellow is expected to work, generate ideas and experimentally prove them both independently and within team-working efforts with other researchers working on the project.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Optical/Photonic Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related disciplines

  • Must have relevant research experience in optical imaging or spectroscopy, and nanostructured sample preparation.

  • Must have a good track record of scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals

  • Should have strong background in nanofabrication and sample preparation methods

  • Should show ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiative

  • Should show good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Work in cleanrooms, growth laboratories and laser laboratories

  • Use simulation software for modelling of the experiments

  • Attend safety and all other necessary trainings, as per NTU policy

  • Travel nationally and internationally

NTU seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.
