Join Our Team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.
The Weber group at SPMS, NTU, has 3 positions available:
(1 & 2) Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow (Low-temperature Transport Measurement)
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow to lead experimental efforts on low-temperature transport measurement and 2D and topological materials, heterostructures and devices.
Demonstrating capability, creativity and high-impact outcomes in low temperature experimental condensed matter physics will be a key requirement. The research fellow will be leading experimental work in an existing dilution refrigerator laboratory, equipped with a BlueFors LD250 cryostat equiooed with vectorized magnet, and GHz wiring.
Other facility and protocols for crystal growth and device nanofabrication have been developed to support the Research Fellow’s / Senior Research Fellow’s work.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead experimental work on low-temperature electronic measurement
Help with procuring equipment and consumables
Manage, maintain, and service laboratory and equipment
Guidance/ Co-supervision of research students
Writing of high-tier research publications
Detailed Technical Requirements:
Demonstrated track record in low-temperature electronic measurement
(T = 4.2K and below), including cryogenics handling
Experience with dilution refrigerators is strongly preferred
Demonstrated know-how in servicing and maintaining a dilution refrigerator, especially with BlueFors systems will be a hiring advantage
Further Job Requirements:
PhD in experimental condensed matter physics (at least 5 years of experience required for SRF)
Demonstrated track record of high-impact research achievements
Demonstrated ability to publish high-tier research publications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including scientific writing)
